Smart Building

Building intelligence,
without lock-in and without a layer on top.

We make the best standards on the market talk to each other, to build an open, reliable and extendable system — driven from a single interface.

Layered architecture

Field, gateways, supervision, uses: every level stands on its own and is documented.

Multi-protocol by design

The right protocol in the right place, brought together into one coherent, readable system.

Your data stays yours

Supervision hosted on site, with no dependency on an online service.

The full architecture

Eight layers, from the ground to supervision

You read this stack from the bottom up, the way you build. Without energy, nothing runs. Without a network, security reports to no one. Without supervision, no one knows the installation has drifted. HYRIS designs and integrates all eight.

Technologies integrated

Five building blocks, one orchestration

Each protocol has a precise reason to exist. Our work is assembling them cleanly.

KNX

01
Wired bus — the backbone

Building automation

A global open standard (ISO/IEC 14543), the KNX bus links lighting, blinds, heating and scenes over a single twisted pair. With no mandatory central server, it keeps working even when the rest of the network is down.

  • Wired reliability and decentralised operation
  • Interoperability across more than 500 manufacturers
  • Durable programming through ETS
  • Suited to new build and to major refurbishment

DALI-2

02
Lighting bus

Fine-grained light control

The DALI-2 protocol (IEC 62386) addresses each luminaire individually: dimming, colour temperature, status feedback and consumption. It makes circadian lighting and predictive maintenance possible.

  • Individual addressing of every light point
  • Flicker-free dimming and Tunable White
  • Fault and operating-hour reporting
  • Certification guaranteeing interoperability

Zigbee

03
Wireless mesh

Sensors and movable equipment

Zigbee 3.0 builds a low-power mesh network, ideal for sensors — presence, opening, air quality — and for equipment that is hard to cable. Every mains-powered device extends the network's reach.

  • Deployment without building work, self-healing network
  • Several years of battery life
  • A wide catalogue of affordable sensors
  • The natural complement to a wired KNX backbone

Home Assistant

04
Open supervision

Interface and advanced logic

An open supervision platform running locally, Home Assistant brings the buses together into one interface, adds advanced automation logic and keeps historical data on site rather than in someone else's cloud.

  • Local operation, no dependency on an online service
  • One interface across KNX, DALI, Zigbee and Modbus
  • Automations that can be as specific as the building requires
  • Historical data kept on the premises

Modbus TCP

05
Field bus

Metering and plant integration

The industrial standard for reading meters, inverters, chillers and pumps. Modbus is what turns scattered plant into data a building management system can act on.

  • Universally supported by plant manufacturers
  • Simple, robust and well documented
  • Ideal for energy metering
  • Runs over the building's own IP infrastructure

Multi-protocol integration

06
Gateway & architecture

Making the whole thing talk

This is where our value sits: designing the gateway that ties KNX, DALI-2, Zigbee, Modbus and Home Assistant into one coherent, readable and maintainable system, with clear ownership of the scenes.

  • Documented architecture with no single point of failure
  • One set of scenes, several interfaces
  • Controlled growth over time
  • Simpler day-to-day operation for the client

How it all fits together

A plain reading of the infrastructure, from the sensor through to the mobile application.

Layer 1Field
  • Zigbee sensors
  • KNX actuators
  • DALI-2 luminaires
  • Modbus meters
Layer 2Gateways
  • KNX/IP router
  • DALI gateway
  • Zigbee coordinator
  • Modbus TCP gateway
Layer 3Supervision
  • Local Home Assistant
  • Scenes & logic
  • Historisation
  • Dashboards
Layer 4Uses
  • Wall tablets
  • Mobile application
  • Operating position
  • Energy reports

A layered architecture with no single point of failure: the field keeps working even when supervision is unavailable.
